Comparing together and upcoming features

06/11/2024

We can’t ignore it, nor do we want to. Our mission at Daytoppers is not just to give you insights into your solar panels (although we do that very well), but rather to enable you to compare your energy yield with others. Together with colleagues, friends, or family, you can take on the challenge, or, as some will do, compete in multiple groups.

It’s important to note that you’re not necessarily the weekly winner if you have the highest energy yield. You earn points, and based on those points, you can win the weekly ranking or leaderboard award! Additionally, we’d like to highlight some upcoming features that will have an even greater impact on point scoring.

kWh per panel

In the coming period, we will explore how to calculate the kWh per panel more accurately. The formula is simple (number of panels divided by the total kWh). However, we want to avoid any imbalance in the points system. It shouldn’t be possible to generate 20 kWh with 20 panels, but only input one panel and end up with an output of 20 kWh per panel.

Including your consumption

As previously mentioned, we are now actively working on plans to integrate with HomeWizard, Chargee, and other P1 meters. This will allow us to factor your energy consumption into the point system. You can earn extra points if you consume more energy during sunny hours, which will give a boost to your score. However, we also want to keep this fair. If one person in the group has this integration, it shouldn’t automatically mean they win everything. We will assess what is “fair” within a group, but this will also serve as an incentive to integrate P1 hardware.
